I woke slowly, oh so comfortable as I lay still for several moments, allowing my senses to awaken. The buttery soft feel of the sheets against my body, warm sunshine on my cheek, a faint hint of coffee lingering in the air.
I couldnât recall the last time I woke up feeling so relaxed. I shifted slightly under the covers and felt a mild soreness between my legs.
What
And just like that, I remembered. Everything.
I bolted upright in bed, casting my gaze around a definitely masculine room. Waitâ¦he had carried me to my suite the night before. How did I end up here?
I gazed down at the king-sized bed, covers rumpled, then turned to the mahogany tallboy on the doorway wall, another matching entertainment center complete with massive flat screen and electric fireplace on the wall opposite the bed, and the half-open door to a marble tiled floor bathroom to my left.
Had I been so sex addled that I couldnât remember? But then I did. I remembered him taking me on my bed, followed by a shower with hot, steaming water, our bodies slick with soap, my fingers tracing his hard muscles, the feel of his dick in my hand. Then, dripping wet and laughing, he had swept me once more into his arms and carried me downstairs, the air cool against my skin, my hair dripping wet.
A squeak left my lips when I recalled lathing several drops of water off one of his nipples, the way his arms had tightened me against his chest, him entering a darker roomâ¦
My mind kept spinning, rewinding and reviewing what had happened, my analytical brain running a figurative systems check in my head, my pulse racing as I glanced around the empty bed and bedroom of Marcusâs suite, not sure if I felt relieved or annoyed that Marcus wasnât sleeping next to me. I noticed the indentation of his head in the pillow, the covers thrown back, and no sound downstairs that would announce his presence.
I ran through a litany in my head.
Losing your virginity to a mob boss. Check.
Sleeping with your client. Check.
I glanced at the bedside table and saw my phone lying face down on it. I picked it up, slid my finger across the screen, and saw the message from Selena. Check.
With a huge sigh, forcing my mind not to go once more over what I had done last night, I read Selenaâs message.
Having fun yet?
I knew that she wouldnât let up on me until she got every last gory detail. When she caught the scent of something juicy, she was like a bloodhound, and I knew she smelled blood. That thought caused my cheeks to flush with heat, and I was forced to rememberâ¦not that I didnât want to remember, not exactly, but it brought with it a conundrum and roiling vortex of confusion.
I tapped out a quick message for Selena.
Client left early. Still surfacing. Chat later.
As my best friend, Selena and I had shared confidences for years, but I sure
